Compact modern cottage in a lovely area for walks. Cafe adjacent to cottage for snacks and meals. Safe cat parking and friendly owner. Wouldn't hesitate to return.

Nice modern cottage which was lovely and warm in the cold weather. Nice to be able to have food in the cafe or cook for yourself after a nice walk down to Causey Arch. Would definitely recommend visiting Beamish (which is free to guests) - a great day out! Looking forward to coming back next year - thanks again!

Can't recommend this cottage highly enough. Extremely welcoming. Couldn't do enough for us. Excellent location. We managed to do something every day. We were even given a discount at the cafe jointly owned. A superb holiday. Clean, comfortable, convenient and friendly.

A lovely comfortable and cosy cottage for two. Good, secure parking - we have a classic sports car - and a great centre for touring the area. Tanfield railway on the doorstep and lovely meals in the adjoining tearooms - recommend the corned beef pie -but don`t eat anything before lunch! The welcome was warm and ongoing advice and local knowledge freely available from the owner. If we revisit the area we should certainly book here again.

We stayed for 7 nights at Gracies Cottage, and it was perfect! The owner is very welcoming and helpful. The rooms in the converted stables are small, but beautifully furnished, with extremely comfortable sofa, chairs etc., and the television works properly which we have rarely experienced before in self-catering accommodation!! The location is well away from main roads, but a drive of only a few minutes, takes you to several good pub/restaurants. Would highly recommend this accommodation!

A great little cottage, totally relaxed was just what we needed. Very clean accommodation, Hiliary was there if you needed anything. Limited cooking facilities no oven but we managed. If you are a NT member there are lots to visit. Wallington Hall was our favourite. Eating out - The Causey Arch Inn across the road served good food . Other pubs short drive or a walk. Lovely walk to Causey Arch from cottage. Got to mention the goose, he's a character - just watch your toes. We were warned!

The cottage was perfect for our needs as a base to explore and relax. Be careful of the goose it likes to nip your toes :-). There is a lovely walk over by the Causey Arch where it will lead you to a cafe and Tanfield railway station where you can jump onto a steam train for a wee trip.

A great first break since lockdown. Lovely area, plenty to do, though not enough time. Hilary was very quick too respond, and friendly . Accommodation was perfect for a couple. The weather was fantastic too!
