The cottage was exactly as we expected extremely clean and tidy all the fittings were of the best quality and the bed was incredibly comfortable. Hillary the owner was extremely attentive and could have done more for us. She even went to the extra expense of providing us with with a portable oven. We would definitely go again as the location was ideal for walking the dog and also for being convenient for visiting other locations such as Beamish etc overall a fantastic stay.

The cottage was comfortable and well fitted out in a contemporary style. Being in-between Durham and Newcastle, the location is great for accessing many of the north east's attractions. The owner is very friendly and considerate. Guests should definitely make the most of the free pass for Beamish. We would also recommend the on-site teashop (discount for guests). A very enjoyable holiday - we had a lovely time here.

A really lovely cottage ideal for two people. It was finished out to a very high standard with all the necessary facilities needed for the stay. Lovely outside courtyard with plenty of seating. The bonus was the tea shop a few yards away with good food and yummy cakes and pastries. The surroundings were beautiful with great walks. I would thoroughly recommend this property and the wonderful host.

Booked a 4night stay at Roxy cottage ,it was so cosy especially as the weather was unpredictable,sun one minute snow the next ,everything at hand and so nice to have an on-site tearoom what a little treasure ,cottages and tearoom are dog friendly so that is a bonus ,the owner is a lovely lady ,so friendly and helpful, not far for us to travel so we will be back ,also for a day out just for the homemade food alone Thank you for a great stay .

Our stay was amazing in so many ways. The accommodation was delightful and the owner Hillary was fabulous. A lovely warm welcome when we arrived after a long drive. Well placed for so many things to do. Tearoom next door a welcoming place to have breakfast after a windy and wet walk with the dog. Welcoming pub just at the end of the road. Thank you Hillary for making us feel so very welcome. Highly recommend for a relaxing weekend away.

Perfect location for visiting the sights, the coast and places of interested. Accommodation was excellent and the owner was so helpful and kind. Nothing was too much trouble. Even our dog was spoilt!! The adjacent tea room was perfect for breakfast and other meals if you didnt want to cook or go too far and with the Causey Arch picnic area next door it was ideal for walks with the dog. A great find and we will return. So pleased we found such a gem.

The cottage is very well presented, comfortable and homely, ideal for a relaxing break. There are pleasant walks on the doorstep, with the Beamish museum, Angel of the North and Tanfield Railway a very short distance away. You can be on the coast in a little over half an hour and there are pubs, restaurants and cafes within easy walking distance, (excellent tea room on site). The owner lives on site and is very friendly and helpful, though not in the least intrusive. Very highly recomenended.

We wanted a comfortable base in a quiet location to enjoy a relaxing break following recent serious surgery and this cottage met those criteria. The location was ideal with access to some easy walking and within reasonable travel distance of Newcastle, Durham and the east coast.

The cottage was as nice as the pictures show and next to a lovely wooden walk across and under and old railway bridge, oldest in Britain apparently. Lots to do in the area and beaches around South Shields were great too. The lady has a teashop next to the property and so you can get breakfast there too. You must visit Beamish Museum and Angel of the North, each only 10 mins away too. Pub and hotel is only 5 mins way away with normal pub food. Blackpudding fritters must be tried!

We thoroughly enjoyed starting in Roxy cottage, its in a great location to explore the north east. The cottage was very clean and very comfortable, we found it very relaxing after busy days visiting friends and family. Its proximity to Causey Arch meant we started our days with some lovely walks with our dog. The owner was lovely, extremely welcoming and really helpful.
